DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately steam has removed the feature to access cd keys for average users. I don’t know if there is a fix to this if there is steam support will know so ask them. Someone has said the same thing on another post, yes they are up.
Is Spore Online dead?
Spore is big dead, but not in every way. And, you can indeed log in, but you have to be using origin spore.
Is Spore shut down?
“End of an era.” EA has closed Maxis Emeryville, the studio behind Spore and the recent SimCity game.
Why can’t I connect to Spore servers?
If you can’t login to the servers, it’s most likely because the product code isn’t linked to the EA account (IE, the game doesn’t believe your account owns Spore). Just use the live chat for EA and toss them your codes, they will attach it to the account and you will be gold.
Can you still download Spore?
The full version of Spore is available through purchase only. However, if you follow the steps above, I’ll show you how to download a free trial, so you can start creating your creatures right away. If you have a subscription to EA Play, Spore is included in the subscription package.

What to do if your spore server is dead?
Either way, depending on your issue, it’d have to be one of those three. The latter two can be fixed, the first cannot (can’t make a private server, not sure how anyways). So if the spore servers are dead, there’s nothing you can do. Apologies.
Can a physical copy of spore connect to steam?
Physical disc copies of Spore and its Expansions also have CD Keys, but they are likely unable to link to the servers because they may not have the latest patch installed. However, you can use those keys to reinstall and play through the Origin client instead which should work.
Do you have to have a spore account to connect to spore?
Do NOT click Log In unless you already have a Spore account, in which case you have to. It will accept it if you entered your account details correctly. If you have the other expansion packs, make sure you register those as well. After connecting to Spore, it may say that there is a patch for Spore if you haven’t downloaded it already.
