Usually, but not always, tokens are creatures. This wiki presents a comprehensive list of all tokens. Normally tokens can exist only on the battlefield, due to state-based effects.
What are token creatures?
Those are tokens, and again, they are not real Magic: the Gathering cards. They exist only to give you, the player, something to use as a marker. They usually look like the thing they are representing, which makes them far more player-friendly than, for example, a die, or a piece of torn paper.
Do token creatures go in your deck?
Tokens do not go in your deck. Most players I know ( including me ) keep the relevant tokens in separate ( or sometimes, no ) sleeves and then put them on to the battlefield when whatever spell or creature generates them.
Do token creatures go to the graveyard?
A: Tokens go to the graveyard as regular creatures, and are removed as a “state-based effect” when a player gets priority again. They stay in the graveyard long enough to trigger abilities, like the one of Soulcatchers’ Aerie, before they are removed.
Does a token count as a creature?
Yes. It is a creature and can be targeted by Hour of Need. However, it is not a creature card. So it can’t exist anywhere but the battlefield.
What do you get when you create a token in Magic The Gathering?
Create X 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens, where X is that creature’s converted mana cost. Deathtouch (Any amount of damage this deals to a creature is enough to destroy it.) When Aether Poisoner enters the battlefield, you get (two energy counters).
What can you do with a creature token?
The creature gains skills and can have professions. If a member of a civilization (even a pet) has this token, it’ll need to eat, drink and sleep. Note that this token makes the creature unable to be eaten by an adventurer, so it is not recommended for uncivilized monsters.
When to create a token that’s a copy of?
Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, if it targets one or more other permanents you control, create a token that’s a copy of one of those permanents. When a spell or ability an opponent controls causes you to discard this card, create a token that’s a copy of target permanent. Quasiduplicate (3)
How are tokens represented in a card game?
There are certain creatures that are represented by tokens, called Creature Tokens, these are treated the same as creatures. Tokens in a game are often represented by a facedown card or there are also token creatures such as soldier. They can range from small 1/1 creatures, to large, expensive creatures, such as Mirror-Sigil Sergeant.
