Yep. If they have an ability that would do so, there is nothing stopping them (aside from Summoning Sickness, targeting, the usual). Unless you are playing with Area of Effect.
Can you use tap abilities on first turn?
Yes, you can. Relevant rule: 302.6. A creature’s activated ability with the tap symbol or the untap symbol in its activation cost can’t be activated unless the creature has been under its controller’s control continuously since his or her most recent turn began.
Can you tap before your untap step?
The most common question about this is, “Can I do something in my untap step before I untap?” And the answer is “No.” Your last chance to do anything before you untap is your opponent’s end step. Once your turn starts, the first thing that happens is you untap, then you move to your upkeep.
Can you tap before upkeep?
The untap step is a separate phase, different from the upkeep. It’s the first thing that happens in a turn, and no player gets priority during the untap step. So no.
Can you activate creature abilities on opponents turn?
No. Unless a card explicitly states that it can only be activated on your turn (USUALLY denoted by “play this ability only as a sorcery”) the ability on a creature can be used any time the player wants once the creature no longer has summoning sickness for creatures that have the tap symbol in their cost.
Can I tap a creature if it has summoning sickness?
Yeah, you can do that even if the creature has summoning sickness. Attacking and the actual tap symbol are what you can’t do with summoning sickness. You can’t use an ability of that creature that says “{T}: do stuff” unless you’ve controlled that creature since the beginning of your turn.

When to use summoning sickness on a creature?
A creature that you play has summoning sickness until your next turn, so if the ability has a tap symbol in it, you can’t use it until the turn after you play it. If the ability has a cost but no tap symbol, summoning sickness is irrelevant–you can use it as soon as the creature enters play
Can a creature ability be played as an instant?
Now I get only more confused when I read my own post, but hopefully someone understands 😀 Creature abilities can be played as instants, so you can use them on your opponent’s turn. A creature that you play has summoning sickness until your next turn, so if the ability has a tap symbol in it, you can’t use it until the turn after you play it.
