If using a Full Flight Simulator, FTD or AATD, a maximum of 20 hours can be credited towards IFR certification requirements. If using a BATD 10 hours is allowed. In each case an LOA must be approved by the type of training conducted in the device.
Can you fake flight hours?
Yes, any certificated pilot can lie and say they flew hrs when they didn’t. It may or may not be uncovered later. The pilot that was pilot in command of a Cessna 402 with singer/actor Aaliyha on board which crashed during takeoff from the Bahamas had falsified his flight experience and mostly got away with it.
Are you required to log flight time?
The regulation sets out the information, at a minimum, of what to log for training and aeronautical experience. That is, the FARs say you must log date, flight time, departure and arrival airport(s), aircraft make and model and identification, and the name of the safety pilot, if required.
Can 2 pilots log PIC time?
Pilot-in-command time may be logged by a safety pilot if acting as PIC. The two pilots must agree that the safety pilot is the acting PIC. PIC time may be logged only while the other pilot is “under-the-hood.”
Can 2 pilots log flight time?
Yes! A common situation in which two private pilots can log pilot in command time (assuming each pilot is rated to fly the airplane) is when one pilot is flying under the hood for instrument proficiency or currency, and the second pilot is performing the role of the safety pilot.
Can two private pilots log Total time?
First, you ask whether there are “any circumstances when, during a normal flight, two Private Pilots may simultaneously act as (and therefore log the time as) Pilot In Command?” The answer is two private pilots may not simultaneously act as PIC but they may, under certain circumstances, simultaneously log PIC time.
Do you need your logbook in your possession when you fly solo?
All solo endorsements are placed in the student logbook and are no longer required to be on the student pilot certificate.
How many hours can a private pilot fly per day?
Current rules allow up to 16 hours continuous duty time. Additional duty hours would be permitted only for unexpected operational problems, such as flight delays. In no event could such delays add more than two hours to the pilot’s duty day.
What is the difference between tach time and Hobbs time?
Tach (tachometer) time differs from Hobbs Time in that it is linked to engine revolutions per minute (RPM). Tach Time records the time at some specific RPM. It is most accurate at cruise RPM, and least accurate while taxiing or stationary with the engine running. At these times, the clock runs slower.
Can a safety pilot log time?
Both pilots may log PIC time if the safety pilot is the acting pilot in command. FAR 61.51(e) allows both the sole manipulator of the controls and the acting PIC to log PIC time.
Can a safety pilot log night time?
Since this aircraft is single pilot, you can only log that time that the other pilot is actually under the hood (2.7). You can log PIC, day, XC, night, SEL etc., but only the hood value. You cannot log landings or instrument approaches unless you actually fly them.
