Safety Zones: Note, you can’t move backwards into your safety zone, though you can exit a safety zone with a backwards move card. That pawn would be able to reenter the safety zone on a subsequent turn.

A Safety Zone may be entered only by a forward move and a player is never allowed to move his man forward beyond this entrance square except to enter his Safety Zone. (NOTE: However, this rule has no application to the exchange of pieces by an opponent through the play of an 11 card.)
Do you have to slide past your safety zone in sorry?
If the triangle is the same color as your pawns, do not slide. Just stay put on the triangle and move as usual during your next turn. Observe the SAFETY ZONE. On a subsequent turn, you can move your pawn back out of the SAFETY ZONE if the card allows you to do so.
Can you move back 4 spaces from start in SORRY?
Yes. From the rules, under “Moving Backwards”: If you have successfully moved a pawn backwards at least two spaces beyond your own START space, you may, on a subsequent turn, move into your own SAFETY ZONE without moving all the way around the board.

There are 5 safety zone places. The arrow is just a normal spot. You need to move to home exactly. We had the same argument until we looked up older versions of the gameboard.
Can you move out of the safety zone in sorry?
You can only enter the Safety Zone which corresponds to the color of your pawns/START space. Normal rules apply within the Safety Zone. You may not enter the Safety Zone through a direct backwards move, however you can move backward out of the Safety Zone if the card instructs.
Can you land on your own pawn in sorry?
It is against the Sorry rules to begin moving with any other card. You may jump over any pawn counting that space as a normal space. If your pawn lands on an occupied space, you bump that pawn back to Start only if that pawn is not your own. The Sorry Safety Zones are only used by pawns of the corresponding colors.
