Oblivion ring is an enchantment, but it is not an aura. Auras require a target when they are cast, but other enchantments such as Oblivion Ring do not. So, Oblivion Ring itself (when it is cast) is not targeted, but its Enters the Battlefield ability is.
Can Oblivion Ring exile a Hexproof creature?
It is not legal. There is no way for an oblivion ring to exile an opposing creature with hexproof or any creature with Shroud if either of the abilities are active.
Can you Oblivion Ring a commander?
You can either leave the commander under the oblivion ring to begin with, so he doesn’t go to the command zone or you can send him to the command zone, making him cost a normal +2, and nothing happens when the ring goes away.
Does Hexproof protect from exile?
Yes. Hexproof says “Cannot be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control”. The whip effect is neither 1) targeted or 2) controlled by your opponent.
Do auras target?
Aura spells target objects or players, and Aura permanents are attached to objects or players. See rule 303, “Enchantments,” and rule 702.5, “Enchant.”
Does deflecting SWAT work on enchantments?
No, this will not work. The triggered ability of Lich’s Mastery does not have a target, and Deflecting Swat can only change the targets of spells and abilities.
What happens when Oblivion ring leaves the battlefield?
