After inducting three followers into the Blades during the quest “Rebuilding the Blades,” Delphine will mention Esbern is studying dragon lairs. Speaking to Esbern will start the miscellaneous quest “Ask Esbern about dragon lairs.”
How do I get Esbern to Delphine?
Firstly go back to the ratway and go straight down to where you first talked to esbern. Esbern will be right outside his room and he will finish talking about something and then he will say lets go. Then you take him to delphine!
How do I get Esbern to open the door?
PC If the door does not open, face it then type setstage MQ202 160, force Esbern out of the door and close it. He will then open the door to get back in, he then will continue on with the quest though he may speak too fast to understand.
Can you spare Paarthurnax?
There is the option to tell Arngeir that Paarthurnax must die or that he is going to be spared. It is possible to kill Paarthurnax directly after the quest “Alduin’s Bane,” since he is no longer an essential character.

What is the secret of alduin’s wall?
We need to go to Sky Haven Temple to find Alduin’s Wall and see what it can tell us. I found the Blades loremaster Esbern and brought him to Riverwood to talk to Delphine. He believed that the secret to defeating Alduin would be revealed by Alduin’s Wall, an artifact created by the ancient Blades.
Do I have to walk to Riverwood with Esbern?
The good news is that you don’t need to go to Riverwood by foot, as you can use fast travel. After reaching the destination, of course head to the Sleeping Giant Inn. Listen to a short conversation between Esbern and Delphine and afterwards head to the basement room (screen above).
How do I pay with Haelga?
Just swipe it and speak to Haelga. At first she will be stubborn, but just threaten to ‘accidentally’ drop the statue and she will hand over the money.
Can I spare alduin?
Alduin can only be killed by the Dragonborn. Other characters will only cause him to become “downed” like essential dragons. If the Dragonborn uses Healing Hands on Alduin while he is downed, he will regain all of his health. It is possible for Storm Call to sometimes ignore Alduin while he is downed.
