How to Stop Dropped Frames in OBS
- Reduce the resolution of your streams. In general, the higher the stream resolution, the higher the CPU usage.
- Reduce the bitrate of your streams.
- If live streaming over WiFi try using an ethernet cable.
- Check your firewall settings.
- Broadcast to a server that is closest to you.
Why is my FPS so low on OBS?
You may need to cap in-game framerate, use vsync, reduce in-game visual quality settings, or change to streaming either 720p60 or 1080p30 to reduce GPU lag to 90% or lower so that OBS has resources to work.
Does streaming on OBS affect FPS?
OBS does have a 2-3% impact on CPU/GPU usage and this translates to a 10-15 FPS loss in Legion equating to about 20-25% of the overall possible frame rate with it off. Edit: Turns out it actually starts to eat 40-50% of my GPU. This would make the FPS drop make sense.
Does streaming make your ping higher?
When you are streaming, you are sending a lot of data, so your ping will get highter.
Why is my FPS so low when streaming?
If your CPU or GPU are reaching close to or 100% usage, that is why your frame rate is suffering. You may notice frame drops in your game, or perhaps your viewers will notice frame rate drops in the stream.
Why do I get low FPS while recording?
this could mean that you are currently using software (cpu) encoding and this causes your recording to fall behind and drop frames. so, i think you should go to settings, to output, then to recording, and set that to hardware (QSV or H. 264) then try again.
Why do I lose FPS when streaming?
Is the FPS on twitch low or high?

Why do I get High ping when streaming with OBS?
I’m getting highping everywhere (Ingame, Teamspeak, etc) when I stream with OBS. Getting around 100-200ms more and sometimes up to +500ms. I tried streaming with other streaming apps at higher settings and had no issue at all (Bitrate ~4000-4500). It only happens when I stream with OBS.
Why does my Twitch stream Ping so high?
On top of that, multiplayer has lots of lag spikes (tried with Dark Souls 3 which is peer to peer, could be different with a dedicated server game). To end on a more positive point, even if your stream is blurry, when Twitch transforms it into a VOD, it gets a little bit nicer / some of the blurryness goes away.
How to get high FPS in OBS and stream?
I see that you have a good CPU. That should make up a little bit for shitty upload, so consider changing CPU preset to FAST and stay with the same bitrate. In x264 opions down below write opencl=true, this will make your gpu help encoding some stuff and take away some load from CPU and upload.
