There are 2 ways to change your spawn point:
- Sleep in a bed. When you sleep in a bed at night, you will reset your spawn point.
- Use the /spawnpoint command. This command allows you to quickly set your spawnpoint with a game command (ie: cheat).

Why does Minecraft not spawn in set area?
Note that you spawn on the top blocks in the set area, so building it underground will not work. lots of lights, keep in mind that the the deeper you go, the more light you need to stop mobs form spawning. A few thing that I like to do is to dig in the walls, make room that’s about the size of a normal dungeon (so that’s what 8X8X5?), and keep them dark.
