Restoring from Backup Files
- Install Steam and log in to the correct Steam account (see Installing Steam for further instructions)
- Launch Steam.
- Click on “Steam” in the upper left corner of the Steam application.
- Select “Backup and restore games…”
- Select “Restore a previous backup”
Can deleted downloads be recovered?
Can you retrieve downloads that have been deleted? Yes, you can! Using data recovery software will allow you to recover files even if they have been accidentally deleted from your computer. Keep in mind it is best to recover them as soon as you notice that the file has been lost or deleted.
Does steam delete download files?
There will be no systemic repercussions from deleting downloaded items except you will no longer be able to use them. I would recommend dumping them from the recycle bin also. You can always download Steam games again.
Can you restore deleted Steam games?

Why did my Steam games get deleted?
Games may appear uninstalled when Steam no longer recognizes the installation files. As long as the game folders are still in the proper location, attempting to launch a game will prompt a download. This will allow Steam to recognize the installation files during the download process.
Can I restart Steam mid download?
You can close Steam and/or restart your computer at any time while downloading with Steam. You do not need to manually pause the download before closing Steam or rebooting; the download is paused automatically and resumed next time you start Steam.
