Your provisional rank shows where you’ll start the climb and updates after each placement game. Provisional ranks are only visible to you until you complete placements. You can’t lose LP during placements, so your provisional rank can only go up. Wins earn accelerated LP and you skip through promos.
How does placement work in league?
When a player first plays ranked, they’ll be put into one of 10 placement games to determine their initial rank, just like at the beginning of every new ranked season. The more games you win during your placements, the better chances you have of starting in a rank like Silver or Gold.
How does league MMR work?
MMR fluctuates as players lose and win their matches. In order to climb or drop in MMR significantly players need to push their winrate away from 50% (regardless if it is losing or winning more often). Where can I see my MMR? There is no official way to see your MMR in LoL.
How long does it take to get to level 30 in league?
It takes a total of 21,389 summoners experience to reach level 30 on League of Legends. When you play bot games, you get around 90 experience per game, and those games can take as long as 20 minutes – this means that to reach level 30, you’d have to play a total of 150 hours of LoL.
How does provisional rank work in League of Legends?
Also changing this season is the provisional ranking system which will now give you a rank after just one placement game in a role. But don’t worry, over the course of your provisional games wins will net you huge advances in rank while losses won’t negatively impact you at all.

How does League of Legends decide which tier to put?
At the end of the matches it places you into a league based on your ELO. So this means that if you are completely new that season you start at 1200, but if you were diamond last season then you will be reset towards 1200, but you will still start higher than 1200 before you even start your placement matches.
