Basically you can dedicate a diplomat to improve your dynasty’s chance at being elected to the polish throne. Every month there is an X% chance that your heir gains X amount of points towards the next election. The percentage is based on things like diplomatic reputation etc etc.

In my 214 hours of EU4, I have never been involved in a personal union, whether on the subject side of things or otherwise. No Iberian Wedding, no PLC, nothing at all.

I would guess your dynasty, if it would die out, might cause a break as well. EU4 Wiki: If the senior partner’s king dies while having negative prestige or negative relations with the junior partner, the junior partner will declare their independence and choose a new king.
How does the Union end in Europa Universalis IV?
If you have this, the union WILL end on your monarchs death no matter the actual relation with your PU. You get a cb to reinstate it though. I got this as England in a France PU after I converted to protestant (and France didn’t). It’s either that or the pretender rebels in France.
