Easy mode you start with enough scrap to level up the cloaking to level 2. Do that, and find a drone with no shields. Wait to fire your weapons till they are both ready, then fire and immediately hit cloak. Assuming both hit, the ship should blow up and you’re good to go.
How do you mind control in FTL?
You must have vision of a unit in order to use Mind Control on them. Once you begin mind control you cannot turn it off or power it down until the effect ends. You can undo the effects of an enemy Mind Control with your own. You can use the Crew Teleporter to bring a controlled unit to your ship.

How do you unlock FTL?
To unlock, enter the Engi Homeworlds Sector (Green) with an Engi Crewmember. One of the nodes (Long-Ranged Scanners will show empty space) will have blue dialogue that spawns two quest markers. One quest is a decoy while the other will give the player an additional quest marker.
