How does Valakut and Scapeshift work?

Once Valakut is online, Scapeshift decks essentially draw a Lightning Bolt (or better) every turn. Rather than its ramp spells being blanks, and rather than lands meaning the deck floods out, Scapeshift decks are happy to snap off Valakut triggers until the game is over.

Can a are / G Valakut win before Turn 4?

The TitanShift flavor of Valakut simply can’t win before turn 4, and the turn-4 wins aren’t very common. Interaction will be necessary in game 1, and even that won’t always be enough. Now, that isn’t the only form of R/G Valakut in the format. In fact, there’s another version that can win as early as turn 3.

Is the are / G Valakut deck a good choice?

I’m a big fan of R/G Valakut and have always felt it was one of the coolest decks in Modern. Team ChannelFireball played R/G Valakut at a Pro Tour, to unfortunately poor results, but I’m still not convinced it was a bad choice.
