Generally, each room can facilitate two dwellers. Merged rooms may be occupied by up to 6 dwellers. Production rooms require a specific S.P.E.C.I.A.L trait to run, while training rooms increase a specific trait of the selected dwellers.
How do you send more dwellers to the wasteland?
To send a dweller to explore the wasteland, drag him outside the front door and drop him there. You can give him some of Stimpaks and AntyRads. From that moment on you can’t control him as much as you could when he was inside the Vault.
How many people can you send to the wasteland?
You are now limited to a total of ten dwellers exploring the wasteland at any one time. Any dwellers over this amount currently in the wasteland should be able to carry on as normal from my experience so far, but you won’t be able to send out any new explorers over the hard limit of ten.
What dwellers are best for exploring?

Can you have more than one dweller in fallout shelter?
To have children, you’ll need to drag one male and one female dweller in a Living Quarters together. (Note: you can put multiple pairs of dwellers in larger Quarters simultaneously and they’ll pair off. There’s little room for romantic privacy in the vault.)
Can you get more dwellers from a lunchbox?
The dwellers you receive from lunchboxes are more likely to be higher level, or even possibly special characters from past Fallout games (who have the best starting SPECIAL stats). However, because it’s a random pull, you may not get any dweller from a lunchbox.
What to do when the Dweller comes back to the vault?
When your dweller returns, you can collect their loot by tapping the Collect button; make sure you heal them up with stimpaks and Radaways before letting them back into the vault. Especially any radiation damage—if you let an irradiated person walk around your vault, they will quickly infect the entire population.
