How long does it take for Niantic to approve a Pokestop?
It can take a day or it can take weeks or months. I’m not sure there is a precise estimate.

If you believe a PokéStop or Gym should be modified or removed, you can submit a request for us to review the location. The vast majority of PokéStops or Gyms in Pokémon GO were submitted by users to be included in our games.
What qualifies as a Pokestop?
These categories are considered an eligible candidate for a PokéStop: A location with a cool story, a place in history or educational value. An interesting piece of art or unique architecture (Statues, paintings, mosaics, light installations, etc.) A hidden gem or hyper-local spot.
Can a Pokestop become a gym?
In the past, the criterion for a pokestop to become a gym was either to be the oldest pokestop or to be the most popular pokestop. The “Monumento da Divina Misericórdia” wayspot, which is located at coordinates <-19.519409, -42.61982>, became a gym, when there were even better candidates in cell S14.
What does scanning a Pokestop do for Niantic?
Information gathered during PokéStop Scanning allows Niantic to generate accurate, dynamic 3-D maps of real-world objects, improving our understanding of how virtual objects persist, how they’re grounded in specific locations and where they are in relation to each other.
How is a nomination for a Pokestop decided?
Each PokeStop nomination has to be reviewed and by dozens of reviewers before it is decided if it’s accepted or declined. Reviews are carried on by OPR reviewers, which are regular Ingress players (Level 12 and above) that passed the OPR exam.
Can you put a PokeStop in a museum?
Candidates that can be safely accessed can (and often do) include places that have an admission fee. In other words, yes, you can submit something inside a park / museum / venue that has an entrance fee. Same goes for working hours, places that are closed at night can still have valid PokeStops and Gyms.
