That’s a game mode where you can’t break blocks without the specific tool, designed for pre-made adventure maps. I.E. you need a pickaxe to mine stone, a shovel to dig dirt, an axe to chop wood, etc. You can’t do any of it with your bare hands except, like you said, things that break instantly such as torches, crops, etc.
