If you’re fully maxed: troops, walls, spells and troops, then go to th8. If you war you want to have low clan war weight. Don’t gen walls, it’s a waste. Don’t gen the th, it’s also a waste.

I would say maxing your defenses and troops for th7 is a must. Beyond that it is more of a preference if you want to farm out walls or not. If you can get them all to pink as a th7 you are in pretty good shape as a new th8.
