Yes. It will occasionally get attacked from the main bridge, from the small bridge leading to Vault 111, and apparently other areas as well. It doesn’t get attacked often, but it can happen.
Where do you put defenses in sanctuary?
In the workshop mode choose “Defense” and choose and build pretty much any defense item. Building Turrets in combination with walls will boost up the defenses fast. You can place them anywhere within the Sanctuary perimeter and it will count towards the defenses.

The best defence is intelligence (not the S.P.E.C.I.A.L stat) and planning. Don’t build a settlement that fills an area larger than it needs to be, and build a wall around it with a few set entrances and turrets with good vantage points.

Sanctuary Hills can become a target for the Nuka-World raiders to take over, but only if the quest When Freedom Calls has been completed and no companions are stationed there. The original Sanctuary Hills may be accessed by using the console command coc PreWarSanctuaryExt01.
Can you turn wild Mutfruit into Mutfruit?
Wild mutfruit is a small purple fruit that grows on a small tree that bears yellow leaves. The fruit cannot be grown in settlements and cannot be used in place of regular mutfruit in recipes.
Where do I get crops for sanctuary?
If you harvest the food, you’ll then be able to plant that very same type in the workshop menu when you’re back in Sanctuary. We found plenty of food on the ground in the woods just around Sanctuary. You shouldn’t have to go far to find this, but you can buy some from vendors (Diamond City) if you are out of options.
