Technically the location of fire link is the exact same geographically as the untended graves. If you noclip from the starting location, you will hit Oceiros. Since firelink is in the same location, it makes sense that the area is essentially loading as a reskinned untended graves. That would make it slightly easier from a coding standpoint.
